Meta-Governance WG Funds
The Meta-Governance WG is funded at the start of each term. The funding process is set out in Rule 10 of the Working Group Rules. A funding request is first passed as a Social Proposal on its own, then as a Collective Executable Proposal, with the other WG funding requests.
The funding request proposals for the current term can be found below:
[EP 3.1.2] [Social] Q1/Q2 2023 Funding Request: MetaGoverance Working Group
[EP 3.2] [Executable] Q1/Q2 2023 Working Group Funding Request
Funding requests approved in an Executable Proposal are paid out from the DAO treasury (wallet.ensdao.eth) to the MetaGov WG multisig (ens-metagov.pod.xyz).
Based on the approved funding requests, stewards allocate funding towards specific initiatives. Where practical, new multisigs (a.k.a pods) are funded with the specific purpose of distributing funds to a particular cause/initiative.
If there are a small number of initiatives a working group supports with its funding, then payments can be made straight from the working group multisig.
MetaGov stewards are empowered to distribute funds as they see fit, in pursuit of the purpose of their working group, pursuant to Rule 10.5 of the Working Group Rules. This means stewards may reallocate funds previously earmarked for another purpose in a funding request, to the extent it doesnβt conflict with any rules of the DAO or the Constitution.
MetaGovernance WG Multisig
The MetaGov WG multisig has four signers: the three stewards elected for the term plus the Secretary, who is appointed by a majority of stewards each term.
In order for a transaction to be executed, 3 of 4 signers must approve the transaction.
The current signers on the MetaGov WG multisig for Q1/Q2 2023 are shown in the image below.
The MetaGov multisig is viewable through the DNS-linked ENS name ens-metagov.pod.xyz or the wallet address 0x91c32893216dE3eA0a55ABb9851f581d4503d39b.

Pods & Initiatives
DAO Tooling: The tooling pod focuses on developing interfaces and dashboards to improve the governance process and increase transparency across the DAO. The lead signer on this pod is ens.alisha.eth.
Governance: Fee reimbursements and initiatives related to reducing friction in the governance process are examples of how funding may be used in the Governance pod. The MetaGov stewards are the signer on this pod.
Sponsorships: Funds were earmarked in the Q1/Q2 2023 budget for sponsoring DAO-specific events such as DAO NYC, DAO Tokyo, and Aragonβs DAO Global Hackathon. There is no specific pod for sponsorships. Distributions will be made directly from the MetaGov multisig.
To share an idea or request funding related to a specific pod/initiative, reach out to a MetaGov steward or create a post under the #MetaGov Discussion category in the governance forum.
